Who doesn’t love GTA? I mean come on now, this is beyond anticipated! Although no exact date has been announced by Rockstar, the fifth installment of the havoc wreaking and wildly popular Grand Theft Auto franchise has analysts pointing toward a release date of summer 2012, possibly as early as June to steal the limelight before E3.

Rockstar officially announced in November that in GTA 5, players will head to Los Santos and its surrounding areas; including beaches, hills and countrysides, promising to be one of the largest and most innovative games they have ever created. They are looking to take an awesome new direction into the open-world freedom, missions, storytelling and online multiplayer gameplay. One thing is for sure, you will be in and out of many different cars, leaving a path of mayhem in your wake!

Instead of just traditional FPS elements, Halo 4 will focus on more exploration, mystery and discovery. Of course, this doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of things to destroy! Mass Effect 3

  • Will be the final chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy, completing the Commander Shepherd storyline.

Ready to kick some Reaper ass? Fans of the wildly popular Action Role-Playing game Mass Effect, developed by Bioware, will follow Commander Shepherd as he continues to battle the Reapers and now must deal with the Cerberus who have turned against him.
Decisions from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 will have an impact in Mass Effect 3, with settings on Earth, Mars and other areas of the Galaxy. Players with save files from the first two games will able to import them into Mass Effect 3, with over 1,000 possible variables that will shape how the final chapter is played out. RPG elements in the installment have been vastly improved, with a detailed leveling system and increased customization of your weapons. Improved AI, instant melee kills, and many more options when moving around the battle field are just a few of the ways combat has been refined in the new game. Lock and load, lets do this!

Twisted Metal

  • Will be available for the PlayStation 3
  • Release date: February 14th, 2012
  • Hey Sweet Tooth, I’ve missed you bro.

High octane destructive mayhem! The longest running franchise in PlayStation history is coming back with a bang, and this is one series I have missed. Twisted Freakin’ Metal. Atop a penthouse suite, Calypso, the organizer of the Twisted Metal competition has gathered competitors to fight it out in hopes of winning any prize they desire, granted by Calypso to the victor.

Players will be also be able to play online through the PlayStation Network, which will support up to 16 players. Load up your vehicle of choice with weapons and prepare for a bout of blow-up-whoever-gets-in-your-way style of vehicular combat!

Tomb Raider

  • Will be availabe on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
  • Release date: Quarter 3 of 2012
  • Lara Croft is a fresh from the academy 21 year old in this reboot, as she searches for lost relics on an island, and she’s hotter then ever.

Lara, I have missed you, your skills, abilities and… assets. In the Tomb Raider series reboot, Lara Croft is aboard a salvage vessel called the Endurance, which is slammed by an unexpected storm and cut in half. Lara finds herself washed ashore on an island off the coast of Japan, alone, and unsure if anyone else survived the event. She starts off without any weapons, tools, food or water, which the player has to search for if they want to survive. Certain areas of the island remain “locked” until Lara has the proper skills or tools in order to access them. Base camps are set up around the island where she can combine items to create new ones, fast travel to other locations and improve her abilities.

Lara was awesome in the older Tomb Raider games, when she already was a full fledged survivalist who could get her way out of any situation. I think it’s going to be fun to play Lara as you help her develop those skills from scratch on this remote island, scrounging up whatever resources you find.

What? There are so many more games!

Yes, there are. 2012 will bring us a lot of awesome games, and in the part 2 of the most anticipated console games of 2012, we will be looking at more awesome titles. Stay tuned!
